General questions
Nest Care is an online platform that puts families in touch with child carers and consultants. We facilitate communication, bookings and payment, allowing members to contact each other directly via our online messaging platform.
Anyone can search carer profiles for free, though not all details will be visible. For complete access to carer information, and to book and communicate with them, families must register an annual subscription ($99). Carers and consultants set their own rates and Nest Care applies a small admin fee of 5% to each booking.
While anyone over 18 years can join the platform, we understand how important it is for families to feel safe and secure. That’s why we recommend carers upgrade to verified profile status (fee attached) where our team will check and verify:
- Photo ID Check
- Working with Children Check
- Police Criminal Record Check
- CPR and/or First Aid certificate
- 2-3 references
Our encrypted messaging service allows carers and families to communicate safely and securely without revealing personal details. Bookings and payments are captured securely via our banking merchant Stripe. Our reporting feature lets members report any job ads or profiles that look suspicious.

We recommend all Nest Carers have the following checks, which can be verified by our team (fees attached):
- Photo ID Check
- Working with Children Check
- Police Criminal Record Check
- CPR and/or First Aid certificate
- 2-3 references
- Qualifications (as required)
Found someone you love? Great! Recurring bookings can be easily booked in the Nest Carers booking calendar.
To the extent permitted by law, we don’t provide refunds to families who register with us as searching our database prior to sign up is free. If you’re unhappy with a carer or consultant, we encourage you to try to settle conflicts between yourselves through our resolution centre.
No. Families pay Nest Care for bookings in advance and you may not pay carers or consultants directly using any other method other than via our booking page. This is for your own safety. Nest Care won’t be able to help you when paying outside of the platform. If you have been asked to use an alternative payment method, please report it to us immediately.
We hope you don’t run into problems. But if you do, we have a helpful customer service team of real live humans on-hand to sort you out. Just call them on 1300 88 63 78.
Carers & consultants
It’s free for carers to join Nest Care. However, to upgrade your profile and provide parents with more assurances, a one-off verification fee of $99 is available.
Yes, you must be 18+ years to register with us.
No, but it’s a good idea to have them and boost your profile appeal.
No, but we strongly suggest you have them since a parent’s top priority is finding carers they can trust.
Yes. We will charge families on your behalf and pay you directly. Therefore, you’re required to manage your own tax, super and other payroll requirements. In some instances, a family might employ you directly via their own payroll system.
You’re in charge of setting your rates and these will vary according to your services, skills and experience. As a minimum, rates must not be below the minimum wage guidelines as set by Fair Work Australia and the national employments standards (NES) guidelines . We suggest you set a rate that’s competitive but fair, and factor in Nest Care’s commission fee of 5%.
For the security of the Nest Care community, we don’t support cash payments. During the registration process, you’ll be asked to provide details of your nominated bank account. (They’ll be encrypted so no one can see them.) Families use our online payment gateway to make payments for your services. The payment will be stored in the cloud and released once the job is done.
Nest Care has a built-in cancellation policy that lets you charge for last minute cancellations.
We get it, life happens. If you need to cancel your booking, log in to the website/app and click ‘Cancel booking’. An alert will be sent to the family and another is sent to other carers to see if they can fill the position.
Yes. Once you’ve completed your booking, we’ll send you a request so you can review your experience.
We all need to be cautious online. Rest assured, we have security protocols in place. Plus, you can get to know families via their video profiles, ratings and reviews. However, if you do see a job post that looks suspicious, please use our reporting facility straight away to let us know.
We care about your safety and your privacy. You can read our Privacy Policy here.
